We of Adelaide are a deprived people. To get designer products, net-a-porter.com is our lifeline - either that or live on MaxMara, the lone boutique in Adelaide. Then there’s Cherry Bellini and David Jones, the only places to get Christian Louboutins or Manolo Blahniks. So although some may criticise the Designers for Target collections, we sigh with relief at the knowledge that we can have a real designer piece - albeit the lack of variety.
Naturally, when I heard Zac Posen would be the next to collaborate with Target, I could hardly contain my excitement. Zac Posen has been one of my favuorite designers ever since I developed an interest in fashion, and his collection for Target doesn’t stray all that far from his signature classics: great tailoring and draped evening wear with bright silks spells style unlikely to die anytime soon.

Now all I want is a Designers for Target shoe collection!

She’s the hottest model of 2008, and along with that been voted the most stylish model of 2008. Nevertheless, every time I see Agyness Deyn off the catwalk, I can but wonder how she gets away with it. Her inimitable, nearly white crop somehow creates a certain appeal, which, paired with her unique punk-inspired style, is an absolute head-turner (in the best way). Here’s how she does it:
- Balance. Agyness likes to wear loose, over-sized tops, but she always wears skinny jeans with them so she doesn’t look like a sack.
- Brights. Before there was nu-rave, there was Agyness. Her eye-popping palette and clashing patterns work because she allows one colour to be dominant and lets the other colours support it.
- Hats. In my opinion, the hat is an under-appreciated accessory; the way Agyness experiments with hats of all colours and styles should be a cue to the rest of us.
THOSE Burberry shoes (left and top left). Okay, so that might not be a key to her style. But they’re seriously hot, and she’s been seen wearing them several times since she modelled them in Burberry’s Autumn show. (If I could have just one pair of shoes…)
