Congratulations to Bardot for being the first high street store (at least that I know of) to get in drop crotch pants. Hate the model, but she’s making me want to give them a shot. If only i wasn’t so short!!!! I wonder if anybody here will buy them?

Bardot is also guilty of copying those Burberry heels. They look alright in the pic, but are of horrid quality in real life.

Cotton On has launched a new range of shoes and bags called Rubi Shoes! They’re sold in Cotton On stores as well as several flagship stores in the eastern states. Like Cotton On clothing, Rubi shoes are dirt cheap too (with corresponding levels of quality, if you know what I mean). What I love most are the innovative designs that really up the ante for Cotton On. They’re so on-trend and hot without knocking off anybody (so far) and so cheap - the average price is $30! Right now you can get two pairs of ballet flats available in a myriad of colours for $20!

Shoes make me happy. I’m superficial. Whatever.

Australia’s biggest fashion names including Alex Perry, Charlie Brown, David Lawrence, Kirrily Johnston, Nicola Finetti and Lisa Ho alongside Sydney’s most fashionable retailers from David Jones through to General Pants Co. will present a kaleidoscope of style at the inaugural Rosemount Sydney Fashion Festival, from 13 – 17 August 2008.

There are both free and ticketed events, so if you happen to be in Sydney, you have no excuse not to get along to it!

Who can compare to Karl Lagerfeld? What other 74-year-old can rock long white hair? Who else could own 70 iPods with custom-made covers and not be a self-indulgent loser? No one, no one but Monsieur Karl. And for pure adoration of such a wondrous couturier, he is today’s muse. (Note to self: Karl is not God. Karl is NOT God!!)

Now of course, we couldn’t have a guide to dressing like Karl without some of the master’s own designs.

It’s quite simple actually: be creative as you can while keeping in the boundaries of a suit with a monotone pallette, leather gloves and sunglasses. Add a bow-tie, play with texture, wear a military jacket or bury your fingers in rings (on top of the leather gloves, naturally). And doesn’t Karl do it oh-so-well?

Micha Barton Accessories

As if we didn’t have enough celebrity-designers (no I will not use the term ‘delebrity’!) already, Mischa Barton’s gone and made four bags of her own. To me, they look like over-priced vintage but the cheapest one at 20 pounds is my favourite.

That bag wasn’t really that nice in the first place. And the black and white Target version is quite possibly the ugliest bag I’ve ever seen. No, wait, this one is.

Meanwhile, please explain to me why the Miu Miu bag is sold out at nearly every online store I went to?!

They still haven’t caught on in Adelaide, but capes were pretty big on the catwalks this autumn. They’re so versatile - and a whole lot better than just old Hermés style with the jodphurs and boots. But…I dunno…I have yet to find a cape that will sweep me off my feet. And most are just ugly. (Wait, are we talking fashion here or men?!)

Anyway, there’s short or long, practical (As in it actually keeps you warm! Who would’ve thought!) or decorative, arm holes or no arm holes. They do cover up the winter flab (Heaven knows I need that), but still. I do love the short feathery ones over dresses, though.

Other than Maggie T ($269), I can’t seem to find capes on the high street. How frustrating!

I really don’t know how it happened. After a spontaneous visit to Sportsgirl last year, I found myself walking out of the shop with a pair of cream stockings in hand. The next day buyer’s remorse set in - that’s $4.95 I’ll never get back…until now! It’s such a pleasure to have hosiery on the scene after what had been years and years of being written off as ‘grandma clothes’. White and cream stockings have cropped up here and there and I think they’ll be around for a while because they’ve been prominent in even the latest couture collections. It’s a pretty tough look to manage but when it’s right it’s fabulous!

1. White stockings do highlight your legs and make them look fuller, so it’s best if your legs are your best feature.

2. Wearing them with black or dark shoes will make you look short. Naturally then, wear them with white or neutral shoes to lengthen your legs.

3. I think it looks awesome with navy blue! A light palette also looks good as long as you mix up the shades.

4. Don’t wear sheer white stockings. Gross. And they fatten up your legs more than opaque ones.

Sorry for the lack of posts - I’ve been in Sydney for the past week!

I’m in a bit of a dilemma. See, I read on many blogs that the Topshop skirt shown above is a bargain not to be missed at $61.75 (30 British Pounds, actually, but you know). But then…

I found this skirt for just $34.99 at Target, of all places! It’s part of the Free Fusion range, which I generally deplore. This is an exception.

Oh! Then there’s this Valleygirl one for just $29.95! (Seriously, anybody who bought the Topshop one must be killing themselves right now. I’m sorry. I know the feeling.)

But they’re all so different; I don’t know which one to choose! Did I mention I’m getting sick of florals?

Hillsong Conference is in only two days! I’m making a whirlwind trip to Sydney for the 5-day conference starting on Monday and will be staying for the weekend - after all, the last time I was in Sydney I was only 10! The problem with all-day conferences like this is that I never know what to wear. It’s terrifically exhausting going to late-night rallies and meetings throughout the day for a whole week, so I want comfort. On the other hand, I don’t want to dress like a bogan and I also don’t want to break my no-trackies rule (more of a pointless tradition than anything!). I think the key for too tired/lazy/busy days is to keep the colours neutral and items simple, and instead to play with textures and sizes. Over-sized tees and long cardis are perfect for this, and the cropped jacket and gladiator sandals will give it a bit of an edge while remaining easy and comfortable. Go for a few laid-back accessories - scarves are great for their many different ways to use them - to finish it off.

(It actually isn’t all my luggage, by the way. The only thing I actually own in the above are the Sass & Bide jeans - yes, they’re the pair I got at the sample sale for $50!)
